urgh...

After getting all emotionally involved with this Korean drama miniseries, I get to the end to see that the couples I wanted to get together, the ones I believed were so well matched, didn't happen at all. Kinda reminds me of the massive disappointment of HBP.

I think I got maybe three hours of sleep last night; completely my fault-- I got caught up watching Sex and the City. I wasn't excited about the movie until I saw this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly.

I'm sneak-reading Snuff, Chuck Palahniuk's latest book-- the "sneak" part because it's not officially released until Tuesday; another perk to working at the library. There's not much literary value to the book, as far as I can see; I think it's just there for the shock value, although I'm not that shocked (so far) considering the subject matter. I've probably been desensitized by all the other Palahniuks I've read. So far I don't see it measuring up to Fight Club or Choke, but I'm 20 pages in and I'm still interested, so we'll see how it goes from here.

wow... the library is actually quiet today

Another reason I love rainy days: my allergies are never as bad as on a bright and sunny day. Plus you can laze about all day at home on a rainy day and no one will bother you about spending time outdoors. Rain does, however, make me sleepy. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning, and I think my brain blanked out a couple of times on the drive to work this morning; I was definitely on auto-pilot-- thank goodness traffic wasn't horrendous.

On my lunch break, and instead of reading as usual, I'm on the internet. You'd think I'd be sick of the internet considering how much time I spend on it, but it never ceases to amaze me just how much information there is to be found. Not to mention just plain weird stuff people post, as well as games. This one has been around for a while, but my current fave is Boomshine. You get one shot to try and set off a chain reaction to pop as many balloon/ball things as possible, while listening to fantastic music. Too bad games are blocked at the library: I could use some fun right now.

spoiler warning for this entry....

I am currently watching the season finale of Supernatural. I know that Dean is going to live since the show has been picked up for another season, and Supernatural without Dean is unthinkable.... unless he actually does go to hell and the first half of next season is dedicated to him finding a way out.... Hmm... still, I don't think it'll come to that.

Watching Supernatural means I'm missing the season finale of The Office. Hopefully I'll be able to download it tomorrow, or it'll be up on Hulu sooner or later.

Oh, and I haven't watched American Idol this season past the auditions, and even I could've told you that it would be a David vs. David finale.

Edit: Why are creepy kids scarier than creepy adults??

Edit 2: Holy Fuck. Supernatural just killed me.

die allergies, die!

I just woke up wheezing and itchy all over; I think I may break out into hives soon. I probably won't be able to get back to sleep for hours....
I only caught the second half of last night's new How I Met Your Mother; I must remember to download it so I can watch what happened in the beginning. Britney's acting wasn't too horrible. And I caught bits and pieces of the first part of a two part House finale-- well enough to catch Cuddy's bits and pieces, anyway. I'm sure all the male fans got a thrill out of that one. I wonder how extensively she had to practice that strip-tease.

Absolutely gorgeous weather today. The kind of weather that makes you wish you had a job that required you to be outdoors.

strawberry shortcake cream on top...

Working the late shift again. I hope I make it home in time to catch the new episode of How I Met Your Mother; Britney is back for another episode. Not much else going on, although someone mentioned strawberry shortcake earlier and I've been craving it since.

happy mother's day

Spent the entire day out with my mom. Did a whole bunch of stuff. Am incredibly tired now. I hope everyone else had fabulous Mother's Days as well.

The IKEA delivery people were supposed to call for confirmation yesterday, so when I didn't receive any calls I thought I'd have to wait all day today for the delivery. But, luckily, they arrived a bit after eleven this morning. I bought the Karlstad sofa and chaise with a dark charcoal gray cover set. Much to my surprise, though, we had to assemble everything. I know that's how IKEA works, usually, but I didn't think we'd had to assemble the freakin' sofa. It wasn't too bad....

There's a street fair today in my neighborhood, and although it was much better than street fairs they've had in recent years, it still doesn't compare to the ones that used to stretch at least three blocks longer. There used to be carnival games like dart-balloon popping for stuffed animals, and ping pong ball tosses for goldfish. I remember one year when they had this ultra-high slide you rode down on a potato sack, and a couple of years there were pony rides. I guess it's true what they say: it's never as good as you remember it.

All the listings say that Shia LaBeauf is hosting SNL tonight, but I can't figure out whether it's a new episode or a rerun.

Changed my LJ layout to the Mocha-colored Component Style; I was getting a bit sick of the all-blue thing. We'll see how long this one sticks.

Speed Racer is coming out tomorrow, which I'll go see just to watch Rain... Drool... And speaking of whom, I love the entire Stephen Colbert vs. Rain thing. There was an awesome dance-off posted earlier, which I saw thanks to [info]chocotaku, but it has been since taken down.
I just received The Battle of the Labyrinth, Book Four of the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I'm dropping everything else to read this first.

books vs. movies

  • May. 5th, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Obviously, there have to be more books in the world than movies, right? Because the fact is that books were around way before movies were ever invented. This may explain why I'm having so much trouble with GoodRead.com's Neverending Book Quiz. There are questions that reference characters, books and authors that I've never even heard of. Whereas, with Flixter's Neverending Movie Quiz I find most of the questions quite easy. I'm also trying to think whether I've watched more movies than I've read books, which I don't believe is true. Maybe it's just that I have better recall where movies are concerned.
